Geraldine Loretta Haunfelder (Meyers), 90, of Clark Lake in the Town of Jacksonport Wisconsin, passed away in the loving arms of her family at home and awoke in the arms of the Lord, Friday morning, April 12, 2024.
She was born September 20 1933 in Milwaukee, the daughter of Arnold and Hildegard (Steger) Meyers. Geraldine attended Mesmer High School in Milwaukee. Through her brother, she met John Haunfelder and they were united in marriage on August 20 1955 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Milwaukee. Geraldine retired from Community Memorial Hospital where she was employed as a physical therapy technician. John and Gerry initially attended St. Anthony Catholic Church in Menomonee Falls and then St. Michael Catholic Church in the Town of Jacksonport (now Stella Maris Parish-Jacksonport site) where she remained an active parishioner. She volunteered with various parish ministries and food pantries with Gerry being a member of the Alter Society and also with St. Vincent De Paul. She was a devoted wife and mother. She loved doing stainedglass art, gardening and cooking with her family. Gerry and John were blessed with nearly 66 years of marriage, five children, six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John Haunfelder and three siblings, Ronald (Bernadette “Bernie”) Meyers, Maureen (John) Vilkowski, and Arnold (Roberta) Meyers; and other relatives.
Geraldine will be missed by her five children, Lynn (Jeffery) Centinario of Muskego, Lisa (John) Abt of Colgate, John (Pat) Haunfelder of Sussex, Leslie Haunfelder of Clark Lake (Town of Jacksonport), Laurie (Mike) Schilling of Eagle; six grandchildren, Antonina (Brent) Johnston, Maria (Michael) Mack, Gianna Centinario, Jesse (Lauren) Abt, and Eric (Stacy) Haunfelder and Ryan (Lauren) Haunfelder; and six great-grandchildren, Mila and Aaron Johnston, William and Eli Mack, and Bridger and Remy Haunfelder; and other relatives
A Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00PM until 7:00PM on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at the Gibson Family Funeral Home (499 Elkhorn Road, Eagle, WI 53119). A Memorial Service will take place at 7:00PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Stella Maris Parish-Jacksonport site (6236 State Highway 57, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235) with Fr. Thomas Farrell as celebrant. Visitation will take place from 11:00AM until the time of mass. Gerry will be laid to rest in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery in Jacksonport immediately following the mass.
