Gena Travis, 93, of La Grange and previously of Kenosha, WI, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at her home with her loving family by her side.
Gena was born on August 30, 1930 in Manitowoc WI, the daughter of August Constantine Brau and Annunziata (Molinaro) Brau. She grew up in Kenosha and married Gerald Travis in 1951. They were blessed with one daughter, Deborah. Gerald and Gena went on to enjoy 52 years of marriage together until Gerald's passing in 2004. Gena worked as a caregiver and homemaker the majority of her life. Gena loved nature, wildlife and enjoyed the beauty of God's creations. She had a special connection to animals and her many beloved pets during her life. Above all else in Gena's life was her love of her family and faith in God. She was an excellent wife, mother and grandmother and an active member of Jehovah's Witnesses for the majority of her life. She will be deeply missed by those she leaves behind.
Gena is survived by: her grandchildren Olivia (Aaron) Soto-Deprez of La Grange, Timothy (Kenya Lee) Soto of Milwaukee, Joseph (Jenne) Soto of Elkhorn and Anthony Vargas; her great grandchildren, Nicholas (Amber Ortiz) Neau, Isaiah Soto, Bryce Soto, Andrew Hernandez, Timothy-Joseph Vargas, Alexander Vargas, Matthew Pena, Michael Pena, Marissa Pena, Nicole Soto, Hailey Vander Kooi and Brianna (Josh) Carli: great-grandson Caspen Soto and great-granddaughter Evelyn Carli. She is survived also by her many beloved nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her beloved family: her parents, August Constantino Constant Brau and Annunziata (Molinaro) Brau, her husband, Gerald Travis, her daughter Deborah R. Travis, her granddaughter, Gina Pena and her six siblings.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Gena's honor may be made to Fellow Mortals Wildlife Hospital at W4632 Palmer Rd, Lake Geneva, WI 53147 would be appreciated.
